John David Maybury started his collegiate music education at Salisbury University where he had
performed in Chamber Choir, Chorale, Musical Theatre Workshops, Wind Ensemble, and Youth
Symphony Orchestra.
On Salisbury's stage, he has played the roles of Tobias in Sweeny Todd, Matt from The Fantasticks, and
Mark in SU's production of RENT. Maybury also helped form "Squawkappella", Salisbury's first a
cappella group. He has performed in Carnegie Hall twice. He has also directed musical theatre
productions and shows such as Once Upon a Mattress and Annie.
John David Maybury, graduated cum laude holding a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an
emphasis on Vocal Performance from Salisbury University.
Maybury worked as a Band Director following Salisbury, but soon chose to continue his studies,
obtaining a Master's of Arts degree in Music Technology from the University of Limerick in Ireland, and
graduating with honors.
He now works at Mardela Middle and Senior High School where he teaches 6th - 12th grade choir and
musical theatre. Maybury also leads students in an after-school improv troupe, and just started a high
school a cappella group as well as a middle school a cappella group. He is the Director of Salisbury’s
Barbershop chapter The Penninsulaires, the director of Salisbury’s Sweet Adeline’s chapter Ocean Bay
Chorus, sings in the competition chorus Pride of Delmarva, and co-directs, sings, and does vocal
percussionist in his own contemporary a cappella group, Stolen Seventh.
